You are a fantastic illustrator. Almost hard to believe this is all digital. What I like about your work is the clarity--you really hone the image down to its essential elements. Each one feels perfectly placed.
It's got such a nice feel to it. Even though you don't see things like this every day, this picture makes me feel like I could look out my window and see this sort of boat pass by as if it were a normal thing.
I beg to differ. The girl looks like she is looking straight ahead. And anyway, doesn't it add another dimension to think of them as running away from the boat? I guess it depends on if you want a warm happy feeling, or one of mystery. But yeah, I can already visualize an old cartoon in my mind from this piece.
I don't know I still think kids think the ship-town is friendly. It's not necessarily the truth though. It's the kind of scene where a really fancy car comes to some poor, alienated village - children love to follow new-comers.
If this was a cartoon - it would be a very well drawn cartoon
